Terms & Rights Policy
Draft template. A UK solicitor must review this before launch.
1. Who we are
Audioedge is an online marketplace, operated from the United Kingdom, where independent creators offer short music tracks (5–30 seconds) and buyers purchase licences to use them in their content.
By creating an account you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Audioedge.
2. Copyright in the UK
In the UK, copyright arises automatically when an original work is created and recorded. There is no official copyright register and no government body that registers or monitors ownership.
Because there is no register, ownership and permission are proven with evidence. On Audioedge that evidence is: the creator's original project files (for creators) and your purchase receipt (for buyers).
3. What a buyer gets
When you buy a track you receive a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide licence to use that track in your own content, including social media posts, online video and paid adverts.
Your purchase receipt is your proof of licence. It records the track, the creator, the date, the price and a unique reference. Keep it: it is what you show a platform or client if your use is ever questioned.
The creator keeps the copyright. Licences are non-exclusive, so the same track can be licensed to other buyers. This keeps prices low.
You may not resell, redistribute or re-license the audio file on its own, register it with a content-ID system, or claim you wrote it.
Each purchase includes the full-quality track as MP3 and WAV downloads.
4. What a creator must provide
Every upload must include the track as both MP3 and WAV, plus the original DAW project file (for example an Ableton, Logic, FL Studio or Pro Tools session, zipped) showing the track was created by you.
Project files are private. Only the Audioedge review team can access them, and only to check authorship or resolve a dispute.
You confirm that you own 100% of the track, that it contains no uncleared samples, and that you will not grant anyone exclusive rights to it while it is on Audioedge. Each declaration is time-stamped and stored.
Every track is reviewed before it goes live. We may reject or remove any track at our discretion.
5. Payments and fees
Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown in GBP, and any applicable tax is shown at checkout.
Audioedge keeps a 20% commission on each sale. Creators receive 80%, paid out by Audioedge after the sale.
6. Invoices
If you are buying as a business or as self-employed, request an invoice at checkout. Add your business name, address and VAT number (if you have one), and an invoice will be issued for that purchase.
7. Disputes and removal
If you believe a track infringes your rights, report it. We will review the creator's project files and declaration and may remove the track.
If a track is removed because of a valid rights claim, buyers will be refunded.
8. Liability
Creators are responsible for the truth of their declarations. Audioedge is not liable for a creator's false declaration, except where the law does not allow us to limit liability.
